Jochen Rechtmann is a specialist attorney in banking and capital markets law. He has extensive experience both as an in-house legal counsel in the financial sector and as an attorney.
He initially worked for many years as a legal counsel in Commerzbank’s legal department. From 2007 to 2024, he headed the Frankfurt office—which he had established—of Buchalik Brömmekamp Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH, a law firm specializing in restructuring.
Jochen Rechtmann advises on all matters relating to banking, credit, and credit security law, including syndicated financing, collateral pools, non-performing loans (NPLs), and restructuring financing, as well as sureties, guarantees, and other forms of credit protection. Other key areas of practice include insolvency and avoidance law, as well as corporate law—in particular, the liability of executives, consultants, and auditors.
In all of the aforementioned areas, Jochen Rechtmann also represents his clients’ interests in court as their legal counsel.
His clients include primarily banks, insolvency administrators, and institutional investors—particularly those in the real estate sector—as well as executives and shareholders. Thanks to his experience as in-house counsel, he has a deep understanding of internal decision-making processes within the banking sector, which makes him a valued partner and strategic advisor—both in acute crisis situations and in preventive loan structuring.
Jochen Rechtmann is co-editor and co-author of the handbook *Syndicated Loan Transactions: Loan and Collateral Agreements in Practice*.
He regularly publishes articles on restructuring and turnaround topics, gives presentations on specialized subjects, and actively participates in legal discourse on current developments in credit and restructuring law.
